Top 9 Best Online Resources To Learn Image-Line FL Studio DAW

My New Microphone Top 9 Best Online Resources To Learn Image-Line FL Studio DAW

Online learning resources, be it courses, videos, written content, one-on-one coaching, apps, et cetera, provide fantastic opportunities to learn (and teach) digital audio workstations like Image-Line's FL Studio and audio engineering more broadly. Though nothing truly beats dedicated in-person DAW lessons, there are plenty of excellent alternatives online.

Note that by “resources,” I'm not only referring to video tutoring and full-length courses (though these are arguably the best options). I'm also considering masterclasses, videos and articles, and other online resources for learning the ins and outs of FL Studio.

Though obviously subjective and prone to biases, I've done my best to list out these resources based on the following metrics (in no particular order):

  • Reputation of the learning resource
  • Quality of education in features (including built-in virtual instruments and plugins), workflow, arrangement and mixing/mastering
  • Organization and depth of learning
  • Adaptability of teaching to individual students (one-on-one lessons are best here)
  • The resource must be currently available

With all that being said, let's list out the learning resources.

The Top 9 Best Online Resources To Learn Image-Line FL Studio Are:

  1. Image-Line
  2. Production Music Live
  3. GratuiTous
  4. Producer's University
  5. Born To Produce
  6. Ask.Audio
  7. Skillshare
  8. Groove3
  9. Sonic Academy

In this article, we'll go through each of the above-mentioned resources to get a stronger idea of what makes them great for learning FL Studio. Whether you're a complete beginner or a successful professional, there is always something to learn! I'll include links to check out each of the options for you to learn more about each resource. We'll also consider a few “honourable mentions” worth considering.

Image-Line

The RTFM (Read The F****** Manual) philosophy is well and good but is certainly not the most expedient nor the most fun method of learning a DAW as powerful as FL Studio.

That being said, the Image-Line manual is pretty user-friendly and, of course, contains within it everything we would need to know about FL Studio.

But what's more impressive is Image-Line's in-depth video tutorial content that walks users through the DAW's features and functionality, from basic setup to advanced production, performance mode and the DAW's mobile capabilities.

Who better to teach FL Studio than the developers themselves? That's why Image-Line gets a top spot on this list of the best resources to learn FL.

Production Music Live is a small team from Germany offering everything from DAW courses and templates to sound packs and virtual instrument presets.

The courses are value-packed, and specific to the important aspects of FL and music production, and each purchase gives you lifetime access to learn at your own pace.

Choose from beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons and even 1-on-1 coaching to learn the skills you need to become successful with FL Studio.

Courses can be purchased individually, though I'd recommend investing in a monthly, yearly or lifetime membership.

Skillshare

Skillshare is another popular e-learning website that hosts courses on a plethora of topics, none the least is FL Studio.

Like Udemy, Skillshare is non-accredited and allows users to upload and sell their courses. Unlike Udemy, however, Skillshare works on a subscription model.

A subscription gets you unlimited access to every class on the site and is remarkably affordable. Skillshare offers a 30-day free trial, so you can test it out before investing.

Though this platform allows individuals to upload and sell their courses, the trainings are, for the most part, exceptional. You'll find some of the same top teachers on Skillshare as you would elsewhere on the web, including Riley from GratuiTous (link to check out Rilley Weller's teacher page on Skillshare).

Sure, Skillshare won't give you a degree, but who really needs a degree for working with audio these days? Give Skillshare a chance; you'll have access to many superb FL Studio courses to learn the DAW quickly and effectively.

Groove3

Groove3 has a fantastic library of courses and tutorials for all things related to music and audio.

Groove3's FL Studio tutorials are plentiful and in-depth. They are designed similarly to Ask.Audio's tutorials in the way that they teach specific functions/features of FL and go into great detail.

Of course, there are also more general FL courses that offer more broad training so that we can get the best of both worlds with this resource.

There are two main options for using Groove3. You can purchase individual products (download and online streaming) for lifetime access, or you can become an All-Access Subscriber and get streaming access to the entire Groove3 library.

If you would prefer learning FL Studio one feature at a time and building up a strong knowledge base of the DAW's functionality, I strongly recommend investing in Groove3.
