I basically have four categories for these microphone brands to fit into:

  1. Manufacturers that specialize in microphones.
  2. Manufacturers that specialize in audio products, including microphones.
  3. Manufacturers that specialize in electronics and produce microphones as “accessories.
  4. Manufacturers of lower-end consumer-grade microphones.

Note that there are loose categories that may not suit each manufacturer perfectly. Some manufacturers may fit into multiple categories. Also, note that this is a living document and will be subject to change as new microphone manufacturers enter the market and others become defunct.

Please feel free to check out my other, more in-depth articles on microphones brands/manufacturers:
Top Best Microphone Brands You Should Know And Use
Top Best Microphone Brands You’ve Likely Never Heard Of

Also, note that there are many manufacturers of “consumer-grade” microphones and that mics are found in everyday items like cellphones, computers, smart home devices, etc. Though I've included some noteworthy consumer-grade mic manufacturers, you can be assured that not all manufacturers of consumer-grade mics are on this list.

RCA

The Radio Corporation of America was founded in 1919 by Owen Young and David Sarnoff and was headquartered in New York City, New York, USA, until the company became defunct in 1986. RCA lives on as a brand owned by Technicolor SA.

Though it's been a long time since an RCA microphone has been manufactured, the company is worth noting due to the wild success and many recreations of the famous RCA R44-BX ribbon mic. A microphone that has inspired many and was even an integral part of the formation of AEA and Cloud Microphones.
