Hello, my name is Arthur Fox. I am the founder and author of the blog MyNewMicrophone.com
To share a little bit about myself. I’ve been working professionally as an audio engineer in my home country of Canada since 2015.
After graduating with a Diploma in Civil Engineering at Saint Francis Xavier University and working in the field to pay off my debts, I decided to pursue a more passionate path in music and audio.
I enrolled and graduated from the Recording Arts Certificate Program at the Nova Scotia Community College and was quickly on my way to working in the audio industry.
To thrive in the industry on the east coast requires adaptation and knowledge in many different roles. From salaried positions to freelance work, I’ve been involved with:
- Recording voiceover and music in studio.
- Mixing and mastering for television, film, and radio.
- Broadcasting University Sports (A1, A2, parabolic operator, cameraman).
- Film audio technician (recordist, boom operator, etc.).
- Live sound (music, presentations, podcast recordings, etc.).
- Composition for television, film, and radio.
- Sound design for television film, and radio.
- Many more odd-jobs in the broad audio industry.
My fascination with microphones was initially sparked by my research of the different mics I would be supplied with for particular jobs I would be doing.
Since acquiring my foundational knowledge, I’ve been interested in learning more about the critical tools of my trade. I plan to share all the info I’ve gathered over my years of experience using microphones with you, the readers of MyNewMicrophone.com
My Personal Story
I grew up in rural Atlantic Canada and have since called the [tiny] city of Halifax, Nova Scotia my home. That being said, my partner Julia and I would much rather live in a smaller town with less noise.
Sports and music have always been a big part of my life since I was a kid. I’m so grateful to now be able to practice both as hobbies (guitar, EDM production, weight lifting, hiking, and Muay Thai, to name a few) while also working with both professionally (sports broadcasting, composing, scoring, etc.).
When I’m not writing and researching for my blogs, I’m likely being active; writing/playing music; reading; spending time with Julia and friends; or planning travel trips.
I’ve learned so much from the internet and have always been interested in creating my own blog. I love to share my knowledge with the world and help those who were once asking the questions I was asking.
I wish you the best of luck with your work and your microphones, I’d like to thank you for supporting MyNewMicrophone.com. Read on for everything you need to know about microphones!
